COVID-19 Updates & Reminder: All Theory Courses Online Jan. 11–15
Theory Courses Online Jan. 11–15
To help ensure that our community remains safe following the holiday break, all theory courses will be online from Jan. 11–15, 2021. Labs and clinicals will continue as scheduled.
COVID-19 Testing
Students in the Omaha metro area will have a new, free testing pathway available beginning January 11. To begin the process, complete the student quarantine reporting form and contact tracing requirements. Following submission of the form, you will be referred to a website to schedule a date and time at the Nebraska Medicine Universal Swab Center. Lab tests are available at no cost to students. Results will be sent electronically and may vary between 24-48 hours.
COVID-19 Vaccinations
On-campus students have been placed in vaccination groups based on COVID-19 exposure risk and clinical/patient content, and will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, which includes two injections 21–28 days apart, from Nebraska Medicine. Clinical coordinators and program directors will continue to advise you on vaccination procedures.
PPE Training and Fit Testing
An implementation plan for clinical students caring for COVID-19 patients will be completed in January 2021. The process to prepare students to safely care for COVID-19 patients will involve a PPE training module, hands-on donning and doffing training and competency, and PPE fit testing. Information and communication regarding who is required to complete the training will be sent out by designated program personnel.
